One Coat of Paint to Go and Cottage Ceiling Will Be Finished!
Hubs has done a great job with the ceiling. I've worked on a little, too, but not nearly as much as he has. If there is anything that I've learned from this ceiling project, it's this: Before you move a ladder from one place to another, make sure you remove the caulking gun from the top of it first. Yes, I have quite a bump on the old noggin today! But that aside, here are a few photos. I haven't yet re-installed my photo-editing program and have been using an online editor, so the photos are a little funky. Plus, most of the pictures came out dark although I took them during a very sunny part of the day. The kitchen was so bright with sunlight, but I think having the recessed lighting on affected the photos and made them dark. I brightened them, but they still aren't quite right.
The walls have been primed and the french doors are ready to be painted. After we get the last coat on the ceiling, we can paint the walls...Yay!
I edited these photos in no particular order and then realized that some were the "primed ceiling" photos and some where the "first coat of paint" photos...so in no particular order (I think the last couple of photos are the "primed ceiling" photos), here they are:)
First coat!

OMG, it's turning out so well! I love it! I'm totally jealous of your ceiling. I really want to do a paneled ceiling but Gootz (husband) won't hear of it. Sigh! What color did you decide to paint the French doors?
~Angela :-)
Thanks, Angela! Maybe someday your hubby will come around. My hubs can't stand cottage cheese and especially badly applied cottage cheese, lol.
I'm just going with white - for now. I'm on a time and money crunch and need to use my existing paint. The deep brown that I love will require a different primer and probably more coats, so I may try it down the road!
It's looking so nice!
I LOVE the ceiling! I love it so much that I'm sending a link to this post on to my hubby so he can see it too. And the red cabinets are just gorgeous! Cindy at Rosehaven Cottage
Wow, your kitchen is turning out absolutely beautiful. I love those red cupboards with the white ceiling. Lovely.

This is beginning to look just stunning! I am sooo impressed with your work.

It's just gorgeous! You should be proud of your beautiful work. Live with those white French doors for a while. IMHO, I think you will like them better than brown painted.
I just have to say to all of those husbands out there....Sorry, but if I have to suffer all will have to suffer!!
You've made so much progress and it's looking beautiful. All your hard work has paid off. Love it!!!!
Hugs,
Marilyn
Just love that ceiling. You have done an amazing job. Having lived through a kitchen/dining/living room remodel I know what it feels like. The most amazing feeling about your home will come over you when it is done. You will fall in love!
It looks really pretty! I love it.

Hi Kim,
The ceiling is amazing!
And the walls look nice in the lighter color. I really liked the green but I too, have been browsing some of the Scandinavian/European blogs and I love how they use the varying shades of white and cream.
Thanks for your words of encouragement. Hopefully, I'll make it through my remodel with my sanity in tact. LOL
Kimberly :)
Wow, things are really coming together. It's looking great, Kim. :)
My goodness. I've been keeping up with your blog for the past year, but this is the most dramatic transformation of all. It looks so wonderful!
Kim,
Everything is looking SO great!!
Kim, I'm amazed with your vision. This is a great tranformation and truly makes your home have that Cottage-feel. I can't wait to see what you do with your bathroom!

Hi. This is my first visit to your blog. I love what you are doing to your kitchen. At some point we hope to open up our kitchen to the family room and I want to put tongue & groove on the ceiling just like you have done. Seeing yours gives me a good idea of how great it will look. If it were my room I'd paint the french doors white. I'd love for you to visit my blog sometime.
Sooo pretty. Amazing what you have done with this kitchen! You have such great light in there.
The kitchen is looking so wonderful and inviting. I know by now you've probably got it all finished and have moved on to other things. I'm looking forward to seeing it all completed in the new year. I'm sure that right now you're probably feeling the crunch of Christmas like many of us. So I really just wanted to stop by and wish you and your family a very Merry Holiday Season!
Hope you had a blessed Christmas!! Wishing you and yours a happy and prosperous 2008!!!
WOW WEE!!! I just love it and am exhausted just watching all of your progress.
We did the same thing with our home we are in right now but only had 6 weeks to do it. Someday soon I will post the pictures on my blog...it was something else and we did it all ourselves!!!
I wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR and if you get a chance, stop by my blog for my most recent breast cancer surgery photos AND a VALENTINE'S DAY GIVEAWAY!!!
Hugs, Amy (Mom to the Four Sisters and a New Breast Cancer Survivor)
Kim, Happy New Year!
Blessings ~Mary~
