2009 Cottage Charm Giveaway - Just Around the Corner!
It's almost here! The 3rd Annual Cottage Charm Giveaway! I'm so excited and just wanted to let everyone know that on May 1st, I will post the official Cottage Charm Giveaway details and will then begin compiling "the list" of giveaways as they are posted by hosts/hostesses! I will keep adding to the list for the entire month of May, so if you are planning on hosting a giveaway this year, you've got some time! I'm going to take my giveaway photos next week and have my giveaways listed at the very beginning of May :)
Check out my last post for a little more info, but remember that all the specific instructions will be posted on May 1st. Just a few days away!

Now on a personal note...I'd like everyone to know that I've been doing ok - and thank you so much for the warm well wishes that I've received lately. I know we worry about those that we don't see blogging as much as usual and this year, well, this year I think so far I've blogged less than I ever have in all my years of blogging! I feel bad about this...blogging has always been one of my favorite hobbies and I love sharing and exchanging ideas. At the same time, I continue to struggle with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue symptoms that can just be relentless. Trying to get just the basics done (basic cleaning, laundry, dinner, caring for kids) is very overwhelming at this point so I just do what I can while the rest seems to pile up around me until hubs can come home and help or I can get to things on better days. This in combination with trying to live on a tight budget (who isn't nowadays?) has really had an impact on our productivity - the three things you need at least a little of to complete projects are time, money, and energy.
The "Good Friday Tornado" damage here in Tennessee that you may have seen on the news happened right down the road a few miles from us, so hubs has helped with the cleanup efforts, plus our place of worship is about to undergo a remodeling project of it's own this weekend and he will be helping with that during the weekends for most of May. So our own projects have taken a back burner for the most part right now.
I've wished a thousand times that I could be the girl I once was in my early 20's (well before I knew anything about the Internet!) She was a project-a-day kind of girl - and with a baby in tow! But for now, I find myself taking a step back from projects here out of sheer necessity. I hate to say this on my blog because I strive to inspire and motivate but... I'm tired.
"Go confidently in the directions of your dreams..."
That said, we are, with our snippets of time and when I'm up to it, continuing to work on my studio furniture. I miss, miss, miss crafting and I feel like above all else project-wise, the studio must be completed first. Hubs has been working really hard on a huge shelving unit this week. I'm really crazy (or is it cruel? !) for giving him such an ugly, beaten up piece of furniture to work with. Can you see it there? It's been in our garage for years holding paint cans and tools and such. We've already added additional shelving to the cubes, and a new top and bottom, and we will also be adding beadboard sides and back and some fresh trim around the perimeter. I have no doubt that by the time he's finished trimming it out and dressing it up and I'm finished painting it, it will be a treasure!
So how have things been going for you? I always love hearing from you :)

Hey Kim!
Sorry to hear your not feeling your best! Check out this family: http://www.rawfamily.com/
The principals they embrace helped my mother overcome pancreatitis.
Thanks for the time your giving on the cottage charm giveaway. I hope it brightens your spirits!

Kim, I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well. The tornado was such a shock this time of year. So sorry!
Were there alot attending your Memorial locally? We had a great turn out.
But on a sad note, my nephew drowned Sunday night. He had just turned 19 a month ago. His memorial service is this afternoon and I'm not looking forward to it. He had been "estranged" from his family but now his poor parents are devastated and having to pick up all the pieces of his life. It's really bad and so very sad.
I will definitely be back on line in a few days. Our SAD is tomorrow so I am looking forward to that.
I hope to hear from you soon.

Kim ~ I didn't realize you were here in TN! My husband and I were in Murfreesboro (in a shop on Thomson Lane) when the tornadoes went through. We actually stood in the shop door and watched one of them go by! I'm glad you and your family are okay.
Prayers and hugs for you!
Lana
Hi Kim. So sorry that you haven't been feeling well.I hope that you start feeling better soon, and will have all of you energy back.
Wow. I am so glad that the tornado missed you guys. How sweet of your husband to be helping with the clean-up.
The ideas you have for your shelf sound so cool. It is going to look great when you are done.
We had been very busy around here doing projects, and now we are broke. Now we are going to just sit back and relax, and enjoy the weather now that it is warming up. We will be spending a lot of time out back enjoying our deck now that my husband is finished building our pergola. Can't wait to spend all day, from morning to bedtime outside. Come on summer!
Take care. Beth.
I've been reading your blog for a couple or more years now..had no idea you were in TN...huband and I just moved from Murfreesboro on March 30...I often shopped on Thompson Lane where the tornado hit...scary...neat though that we were almost neigbors!..now we are living back in east TN. BTW--I love what you are doing to your house.
Thanks for the link Ambrea! I'm trying to learn to pace myself...when I'm feeling good, I have marathon days and don't want to stop! Yes, I'm looking forward to the giveaway...I think I'm going to work on mine today, taking pictures, etc. :)
Hi Marilyn! Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your nephew...oh my - how dreadful :( I just can't imagine. I hope that your family, little by little, is able to find some normalcy in life as time passes, but things aren't ever really the same, I know. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones. We had 271 at our Memorial this year - pretty good for a congregation of about 150! I hope you enjoyed your Special Assembly Day - ours was in January or February (can't remember, but it was cold!)
Hey Lana, wow - you guys were *really* close to the tornado action! How scary! I'm glad you made it through ok. Yes, we are in Smyrna, just a hop, skip, and a jump away!
Beth, enjoy your time outside - the weather has been beautiful! So glad to see winter gone now! Your pergola sounds wonderful...something to keep the direct sun off! Hehe, and I understand too many projects at the end of the money...c'est la vie!
Dinah, you left M'boro just before the tornadoes moved through! How neat that you were just down the road from me though! I'm in Smyrna but always shop in M'boro (Old Time Pottery - goooood!) and the girls had dance lessons there for years. Great town, just growing too fast just like Smyrna! My goal is to move back to the country in about 5 years or so. I'm a country girl and all this growth is a bit much for me, hehe!
Kim,
I will be praying for you. It can be so trying when you can't do the things you want and need to do. You are in my thoughts....I miss your posts, but take care of yourself first!
Julie
I'm sorry to hear things have been difficult for you recently. I can understand you saying how tired you are. I don't have health issues and I still feel that way. We've been going, going, going on the house recently and I feel like we will need to slow down at some point. We are currently doing some painting on our living room and then I think this summer will be time for a much needed break. I love remodeling our home but it is starting to feel like more work and less fun.
