4 Walls,1 Ceiling, 2 Painters, 6 Kids, & 1 Pot of Soup
First I have to say that it is a deliciously cozy Sunday morning here in Middle Tennessee. It's dark and grey and pouring down rain, but all (8) of us are snug as a bug in a rug here inside. Hubs, the kidlets, and their three friends (who are like my own children) are watching The Princess Bride right now, which gives me a little time to post about our busy day yesterday.
Folks, we have a painted living room ceiling and yellow primed walls! Oddly enough, I really like the primer color, lol! Maybe it's because our walls have been drywall white for so long and I'm such a color addict that any color is a welcome sight:)
So yesterday was the day we had planned on painting the ceiling and the walls - but it also happened to be the day we planned on having the girls friends over (who are all sisters about the same as our girls- they've known each other since birth practically). Their parents are celebrating their anniversary this weekend - and we'll be celebrating ours next weekend, so we're just trading off the kids for two weekends in a row. Works out quite nicely!
All the girls were really good and stayed out of the way. Jeff and our friend Jason (who volunteered to come over and help- THANK YOU!) were able to relatively quickly get the job done. I was the gopher girl, running here and there to buy extra primer and rollers and other neccessities like beer for the guys and pizza and a movie for the girls (thank goodness for the TV in our bedroom!). Finally by about 8pm, my potato soup was ready to eat, which we did while watching our favorite defective detective - Monk:)
It was a very nice day filled with satisfying work, good friends and food, and the delightful (albeit loud, lol!)sounds of happy children.
Later on today, we'll be putting the actual paint color, Clarified Butter, on the walls. Yee haw! Then we will actually be able to move the tv cabinet back into it's corner. I think I've mentioned before that it has been sitting out in the middle of our living room floor for months.
Lol, right now I hear the famous Princess Bride line..."Mawage. Mawage is wot bwings us togeder tooday. Mawage, that bwessed awangement... " It will be in my head all day.:)

Ah - I love princess bride. Whenever Eric and I are working together, and he asks me to do something, I always say, "As you wish."
The Princess Bride is a great movie. I still remember the first time I saw it with my brother and our best friends, at their house. I forget how old I was, but I think I was about 16 or 17. Anyway, the part you cited is one of my favorites! Can't wait to see the results of your painting efforts! :) KimC
Hi Kim,
Im glad you could have a little fun while doing chores! And to swap kids for different dates would be nice. my problem is i have too many, it doesnt end up being fair for the other family! LOL
Clarified Butter! I'm sure it looks as yummy as it sounds. :) Can't wait to see it, Kim!
Ah the Princess Bride. A true CLASSIC (and one DVD I could watch over and over, in our little collection). Good stuff! hehe
Eeeek, sorry about this late reply!
Yeah, everyone seems to enjoy that movie. We have the book, too.:)I need to try to get Sydney to read it:)
Ali - I understand that problem! Fortunately, my friend has the 3 kids, too, so it works out. I don't know many others besides her that will gladly take on 3 additional kids, though!
