One Coat of Paint to Go and Cottage Ceiling Will Be Finished!

Hubs has done a great job with the ceiling. I've worked on a little, too, but not nearly as much as he has. If there is anything that I've learned from this ceiling project, it's this: Before you move a ladder from one place to another, make sure you remove the caulking gun from the top of it first. Yes, I have quite a bump on the old noggin today! But that aside, here are a few photos. I haven't yet re-installed my photo-editing program and have been using an online editor, so the photos are a little funky. Plus, most of the pictures came out dark although I took them during a very sunny part of the day. The kitchen was so bright with sunlight, but I think having the recessed lighting on affected the photos and made them dark. I brightened them, but they still aren't quite right.

The walls have been primed and the french doors are ready to be painted. After we get the last coat on the ceiling, we can paint the walls...Yay!

I edited these photos in no particular order and then realized that some were the "primed ceiling" photos and some where the "first coat of paint" photos...so in no particular order (I think the last couple of photos are the "primed ceiling" photos), here they are:)

First coat!

OMG, it's turning out so well! I love it! I'm totally jealous of your ceiling. I really want to do a paneled ceiling but Gootz (husband) won't hear of it. Sigh! What color did you decide to paint the French doors?

Thanks, Angela! Maybe someday your hubby will come around. My hubs can't stand cottage cheese and especially badly applied cottage cheese, lol.

I'm just going with white - for now. I'm on a time and money crunch and need to use my existing paint. The deep brown that I love will require a different primer and probably more coats, so I may try it down the road!

It's just gorgeous! You should be proud of your beautiful work. Live with those white French doors for a while. IMHO, I think you will like them better than brown painted.

Just love that ceiling. You have done an amazing job. Having lived through a kitchen/dining/living room remodel I know what it feels like. The most amazing feeling about your home will come over you when it is done. You will fall in love!

Hi Kim,
The ceiling is amazing!
And the walls look nice in the lighter color. I really liked the green but I too, have been browsing some of the Scandinavian/European blogs and I love how they use the varying shades of white and cream.

Thanks for your words of encouragement. Hopefully, I'll make it through my remodel with my sanity in tact. LOL

Hi. This is my first visit to your blog. I love what you are doing to your kitchen. At some point we hope to open up our kitchen to the family room and I want to put tongue & groove on the ceiling just like you have done. Seeing yours gives me a good idea of how great it will look. If it were my room I'd paint the french doors white. I'd love for you to visit my blog sometime.

The kitchen is looking so wonderful and inviting. I know by now you've probably got it all finished and have moved on to other things. I'm looking forward to seeing it all completed in the new year. I'm sure that right now you're probably feeling the crunch of Christmas like many of us. So I really just wanted to stop by and wish you and your family a very Merry Holiday Season!
