On the homefront, little did I know the last time I posted that things were about to go downhill in a big way for me as far as my health goes. Hubs had been terribly sick as were a couple of the children, but I felt like I was holding my own though not feeling well (little twinges of congestion in my chest, tickles in my throat). I as I said in my last entry, I was just determined to rest when I could thinking I'd be back to my old self soon. Ha!
Let me tell you, I have been bed bound now since last Thursday morning. It turns out that I have acute Bronchitis. Goodness, talk about miserable! Up until today, I literally coughed probably 21 out of the 24 hours of the day. Any small movement, any attempt to speak even, would bring on a coughing fit to end all coughing fits - the really violent type of coughing fit where you can hardly catch your breath, your insides burn, your throat is irritated, your back and shoulders hurt, your abs throb, your gag reflux kicks in, and you feel like you've given yourself a hernia. My poor children thought I was dying:( I've been telling them all along that it wasn't as serious as that, but I guess physically, I looked to them like I must be on the brink of death! They'd get out of bed at night with very serious and concerned faces, sweet things, and come to my bedside..."Mommy, are you ok?!" When I came back from the doctor with my prescription strength medications, they needed to be reassured..."So you're going to live now???"
Hubs has been wonderful...he's done so much. Of course, I missed school registration and it was he who took the day off work and went in and filled out all the paperwork for three children, did the girls' shoe shopping, organized their backpacks for the first day of school, watered my flowers, did the laundry, took the kids to two parties this weekend, and so much more. He has admitted that it's very hard to be a "single" parent!
I would be remiss if I didn't admit that our little cottage does need a woman's touch again after being neglected by me for almost a week. With so many other important things needing to be taken care of by Hubs, the dusting and sweeping are low priority (though he did sweep and mop a couple of nights ago!) I'm really looking forward to being back on my feet again - and today I've felt better for the first time since all this began, not nearly as much coughing, thank goodness!

Wild Applause for your hubby, for stepping up. I am SO glad you are back to healthy. I admit I came here EVERY day looking for you. I am new to this blogging community and I found it b/c of googling "Cottages and Bungalows Magazine" I was SO happy to find you all. I am SO glad you are back and feeling better.
Hope you get on the mend quickly!
yuck! nothing like being sick in the summer. Especially right when school starts. Your hubby is pretty impressive, school, birthday parties and shoe shopping! He is the man! You must insist he goes fishing, or whatever he loves to do.
I will defniately have to go and check that cute little store out. Looks right up my alley.
Hope that you are up and feeling better sooner than later!
Cottagecheap, how sweet of you to stop in daily! Aw, that's made my day! Thanks for the well wishes!
Tausha, yes, he's been quite helpful and refuses to let me do *anything*. He did concede to letting me get up and eat at the dinner table tonight, though, lol - (as long as I was positive I was up to it, he said) :) Thanks, Tausha, for coming by!
Oh, you poor girl! I am so sorry that you've been so sick! Make sure and take it as easy as you can! :)
I am excited to hear about Lolli Shops! Are you going to be a part of it and/or still open up your own online store?
Have a wonderful week and take care of yourself! :)
Hi Jenni! Thanks for the kind words...I am finally starting to feel better - yay for meds, hehe!
Yes, I applied for Lollishops and was accepted, so as soon as I am well, I'll start creating more of my faux desserts. The site is set to open at the end of October so I'd like to have a few things ready to go by then...so exciting!
Hi Kim,
So glad you're feeling better. It's an amazing feeling after being sick. I'm always just so grateful for every little thing! Looking forward to the Lollishop and I'll put a button on my blog.
Hey Kim ~ really sorry to hear you have been ill. I didn't go to the doctor but it sounds like what I had several months back. So I can totally sympathize with you! Glad to hear you are on the downside of that and are on the mend and feeling better!! It feels good when hubby can fill in for ya too...they need the practice once in awhile too - don't ya think? ;) hehe. Well sending you belated get well wishes!
I am definitely checking out LolliShops, thanks for the heads-up!
Glad you have some help, but I'm sure you want to be up and doing things for yourself! Get well soon, but don't push it!
Thank you for the information!
I was just accepted as a FrouFrou Friendly vendor! My storefront name is 'Glister Glass' and I'm so excited! Thank you, Thank You!
Oh, and the cookies turned out so perfectly soft and chewy! I've been baking in my current oven for 5 years and haven't had such a nice result! I took them all to Vacation Bible School for the kids and they were gone in seconds (okay, I admit I ate a few first)!

Kim, I'm so glad you're feeling better. There is sure lots of respiratory "thing" going around here, too. It's such a blessing to have a great husband. I'm sure your kids will be ready for Mommy to be back at the helm, though, mine always were....lol.
Take care of yourself. DH's aunt just spent 4 days in the hospital for pneumonia and still is very sick. Take care.

Your blog is so lovely. I never get tired of reading it. I have you in my list of fabulous blogs because, really, I think it is absolutely charming. I hope that you keep it going for years to come.
So sorry to hear you've not been well. Same here but different malady. Old bones of mine are fighting me tooth and nail. :) But I guess that comes with age.
Hope you are feeling better every day. xxoo
Thank you so much everyone! This is my first day back in "reality" - cleaning house and now, taking care of another sick little one. Will it ever end?
I sooo appreciate all the sweet comments about the blog and the cookie recipe (I'm online now just to print out the recipe - going to whip some more up now!)
And Ambrea! Congrats on being accepted! I'll definitely be seeing you around - how exciting!
Oh Kim, that's awful!! I hope you're feeling better. That's a long time to be sick. :-(
I will check out Lollishops for sure. Doesn't that make you feel better? ;-)
be well -
Laura
So glad you're feeling better! What an awful time of year to be sick!

I am just discovering your blog - lots of wonderful things. I do hope you are feeling better. Nothing worse than feeling awful and being out for the count. Take it easy and get better!
Sounds like you have a great hubby. :) Hope you get feeling better soon !! :)
I've been reading your blog weekly for about a year now..just wanted to let you know and say hi. Love all the photos of your home renovations...awesome job...love the decor and style.
So glad youa re feeling better too. I am a weekly reader, thanks for the heads up on the lolli shop.
Hi Kim,
I'm so sorry you've been feeling bad. How nice of hubby to step up and do double duty while you were down.
I hope you're feeling chipper again soon. I've had that horrendous bronchitis before, and it does not want to let go of you!
Regarding the Lollishops...I've been reading about it this past week. It does sound like a nice niche market place. Kind of a cross between MakeMinePink and Etsy. Not sure if I'd be accepted, but I think I may apply.
Can't wait to see your shop when it opens. Congrats on being accepted!
Kimberly :)
Hi Kim,Sorry you have been feeling badly. I think it's too hot in the desert for germs to survive. When the weather cools off, we all get the gunk. How neat that you are joining Lollishops. I'll have to check it out!!! I missed you!
Wow, thank you so much, everyone! I am finally up and at'em again though after I recovered, two of my kidlets once again were sick. One, who had a fever for a day or so, had complained once late at night that her ear bothered her...then her ear drum ruptured early the next morning! It was an ear infection we didn't even know she had. The other one had a fever for several days - once up to 104.3, followed by bronchitis. She missed a week and half of school:(
So it's been a tough month but we are ALL well now, thank goodness!
I really appreciate your kind words and well wishes!
