Lot of 40 + Antique Ladies Home Journal on Ebay...What a deal!
It's not a usual thing for me to make two entries in one day, but I wanted to let everone know about an Ebay auction before it ends.
For those of you interested in ephemera and antique papers and old magazines in general, this auction is for you! It's not my auction, (and I sure wish I had the extra cash floating around to win) but I think this is a great deal:)
Someone is selling a Lot of 40+ Antique Ladies Home Journals dating from the 1800's (1888 to 1896) for the starting bid of $75. I don't know how high the bids will go (no one has bid yet - the auction ends in 1 Day 4 Hours as of this posting), but I *do* know that if these were sold individually, you would pay A LOT more than that. For instance, someone else is selling an older LHJ (early 1900's) for $25. Someone else is selling one pattern from a Ladies Home Journal for $9.99, another is selling one ad from the magazine for $25, and so on. So this is an awesome find!
There would be so many uses for these old mags...framing ads and articles or using the beautiful pictures and print for decoupage. It would be splendid if one of you bids on and wins this auction! The seller has tons more photos on her auction page - check it out! The auction ends on Mar-29-07 16:25:48 PDT (1 day 4 hours)

I had to laugh... on a quick scan of the Houseblog titles, my brain interpreted this as "[A] lot of 40+ antique ladies [keep a] home journal..."
As one of those antique over-40 ladies who journal about my house, my own misinterpretation just cracked me up, and I hoped it might give you a laugh.
Thanks for the tip - they look to be in pretty decent shape. I may just bid on them (but I'll wait till the last minute)!

GH, that's hysterical! I didn't read it that way until you mentioned it, and now that I read it, I see what you mean, LOL! Too funny!
Manuela, yes - definitely wait till the last minute if you bid! I'm one of those "wait till the last 7 - 10 second" bidders myself, hehe:)
Oh! How lovely!
Love these old magazines and the ads are so comical! Your house is looking beautiful!

Kim,
You've been a busy girl!!!
I haven't checked your blog in a few days.....
I love your countertops. I hope you love them now, too. I think they are perfect with your new faucet.
Love all your finds from the flea market! I have a "thing" for old milk bottles....when I'm entertaining, I'll put a variety of different colored drinks in them on the buffet table. It looks so great!
You're such a talent!
xoxo,
Martha
These are awesome!
Thanks for the tip, but I was too late seeing them today. There is some fierce bidding there these days. I thought I had something today, and it doubled in price in the less than a second at the end.
I love old magazines, and this was cheaper than buying them one at time like I usually find them.
yep! those are great! I'm in the market for old mags for something I'm wipping up...ummmmm I might have to bid...again Kim I always find something over here that I have to sit and ponder for a bit..so awesome! hope all is well at your cottage!
Beautiful blog. Happy to have come across it..
Oh how wonderful, I could look at these old magazines all day! Thank you so much.
