Motivational Vibes Needed
*sigh* We haven't worked on the house in a solid week. What can I say? Actually, we have been quite busy with life this week and there has either been no opportunity or energy (but mostly no opportunity) to work on the house. The one thing that I had hoped to accomplish this last weekend was painting our living room ceiling. By the way, I hate that ceiling. Just like all the ceilings in this house (minus the kitchen), it has the popcorn / cottage cheese texture. I know that most people would just remove it, but our future plan is to cover over it with painted (white)wooden planks. Call us lazy, but we don't want to go through all the trouble of removing the popcorn, skimming the ceiling, and then painting it again just to cover over it a year down the road. Slowly, all the ceilings in the house will get covered over, so for now, we're just going to give them a fresh coat of white paint and pretend they're not there.
Our weekend was nonstop but filled with great friends and good association, so I don't regret not getting our ceiling painted. I do hope to get to it this coming up weekend, though, because once that is complete, we can prime our living room walls.
The one big project that I really NEED to begin now is the prepwork and painting of our kitchen cabinets. I really admire Bev and her hubs over at "Our Pemberley" for just jumping right into their cabinet project:) Yet somehow I lack the motivation, lol. Don't get me wrong...I really, really want and need for this project to be complete because only after it's done will we install the new countertops, sink, faucet, and new flooring. Plus we probably won't paint the walls until the cabinets are painted. Basically, the kitchen work is at a standstill until I get my tush in gear:) I've painted cabinets before (in an apartment we lived in years ago, with permission, of course) and it seemed to take forever. I only had one child back then, too. Now I have three kidlets, our lives are much busier, AND the kitchen is like Grand Central Station most of the time...the hub of family activity. So I guess I'm just dreading having things "undone" in there for a while. I'll be painting both the inside and the outside of the cabinets, so I've guaranteed myself a two month long project at least, lol:)
Got motivation? Send me some!

Aw Kim, I feel your pain. Motivating yourself to do the not-so-fun parts of renovation is oh so arduous. Ugh! We may have jumped into our cabinet project, but we've dawdled a lot. hehe! We haven't got a lot done yet, and Rem is in the middle of studying for a physio exam, and I've been stripping wallpaper (even MORE fun...blech). So the cabinets doors are still sitting in the basement waiting for their coat of paint. We've got the cabinet frames painted though (woooh) and that as far as we got already. So take heart dear friend, you'll get there. All in due time. Sometimes it's nice to have a bit of respite, so you can build up some reno-energy. *hugs*
PS: So glad about the nice turn out for that dear brother's memorial service. That must have been so encouraging to everyone, esp. his family.
*smile* Your words of encouragement mean so much, Bev...thank you bunches:) Yesterday, instead of working on cabinets, I worked on a completely non-house related project, lol. Procrastinating? Maybe (Yes.) Just what I needed? Yes! It will all get done eventually, I know:)
Wow, Rem is a busy man! I don't know what I'd do if I also had tests to study for, lol! Good on him for juggling it all!
