Forget pit bulls...
How about your four and five year old daughters pulling back the bedcovers to climb in for the night only to discover this? Wow, talk about hysterical! They were pretty shaken up about finding a centipede in their bed, as you can imagine! Centipedes are poisonous, but their bites aren't fatal. Still, very unnerving for the girls AND their mother! I was immediately in the gutted bathroom stuffing any cracks and crevices that it could have come through, lol.
After the uninvited overnight guest was disposed of, Jeff tucked the girls in and told them goodnight and to "not to let the bed bugs bite". Oy!

We've got those too but they're not centipedes which actually have more legs. I forget what they're called, and I can't get to my bug book right now but they are really harmless, even helpful by eating spiders - which explains why there aren't many spider webs in our basement. They like dark places. It does take your breath away when the light comes on and this leggy thing goes crawling off:)
Hi Jon! Yep, still around, working like a slave on this place we call home, lol. We're sure going to miss you when you move, but I'm happy that things are working out for you...a nice fresh start in a new city. How exciting!

Ben, I was wondering about that! I was looking at the picture and thinking, "It sure doesn't have many legs for a centipede...." I looked up centipede on google and this was one of the first pictures that I found. I'm glad to know that it's harmless! I was informed this morning that my 4 year old actually saw it in the living room the other day, crawling under the couch, but she just thought it was a worm and didn't pay it any mind. Lol, that cracks me up because since when do we let worms crawl freely through our house, hehe!

Yeah, Jon's leaving us for the great city of Chattanooga. He's all grown up now- which makes me feel old. Very. Very. Old. But we're happy and very excited for him!

I hate those things!! I looked them up once too after finding several in my home too close for comfort. I think they're called 'House Centipede'. They do sting - but it supposedly feels like a bee sting.
