Lindsay and Zoe's Room
I've been so excited lately about decorating Zoe and Lindsay's bedroom. It has been so plain since we moved in and especially now that Sydney's room has so much color (hers was the first room we decorated when we moved in), the little girls room just pales in comparison. Lindsay keeps telling me that she wants me to paint her walls, too, lol. But I am ever the planner and with this house, I'm determined to be patient and get it right the first time instead of just slapping on some paint and decorating the room around whatever color was chosen.
I needed to find the perfect bedding first. As I mentioned in OWL, I looked everywhere. Let's see, Target, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, Bed Bath & Beyond, and even through Ebay. Nothing really struck my fancy. I'm going for a shabby chic look in their room but many of the quilts that I found were too cutesy country with a rather dull palette of colors (at least for a little girls room) or were just too "adult". I needed something that was delicate and feminine yet soft and bold at the same time. Lindsay wants their room to be some shade of green, so I wanted to find something witha pretty green (but not sage - I need a bold green!)
So today (yesterday), I found some bedding that met all of my criteria. I knew it when I saw it! It's called Roselle. The lighter colors are soft pink, pale sherbet orange, pale lime green, and light creamy yellow. The bolder colors are dark pink (more like a pinkish red), lime green, and a darker shade of green. The quilt has florals, stripes, delicate beading and a little satin trim here and there. The picture really doesn't do the bedding justice because you can't really see the contrasting colors and textures, but just imagine it also with a couple of pinkish red throw pillows (couldn't resist...they matched perfectly and really popped!) I picked up the two coordinating coordinating shams but was disappointed that LnT didn't off the striped dust ruffle. The did have other dust ruffles but I decided to wait and get that until closer to the time that we'd be putting the room together. And I'm glad that I did! I went to target later and found the p e r f e c t dust ruffle( for the quilt. The color is in the quilt itself, the creamy light pinkish orange sherbet (I wish I could think of a better name, lol!). The dust ruffle isn't ruffled at all but has box pleats and isn't lightweight but kind of heavy and quilted. I also picked up a matching king sham, which will stretch out the whole width of the bed. It will lean against the headboard, then the quilt shams followed by the throw pillows. I could not believe (and still can't!) that I found these two pieces and that they were on clearance!!! The dust ruffle was only $5.48 and the king sham was just $6 something...Gotta love Target!!!
I also picked up for the girls at LnT a couple of pretty frames with several colorful mats in them and a couple of cute hand painted round stools. I picked up some pretty sheer white curtains with big embroidered roses on them (they are part of the Roselle collection as are the frames and stools - so the colors match perfectly!) I think that's about it. I did get Sydney a nice crisp duvet cover for her bed. She has a really colorful quilt already which is fine, but this coordinates with it and just looks cute. It is cotton with pretty embroidered colorful flowers and periwinkle scrolls around the perimeter of the duvet. Very cute!
I've been looking for a white ladderback chair for Sydneys desk and I found one at Target that I really like. I couldn't afford it this week, though, so maybe soon. She's been using a metal folding chair and it really is an eyesore in her room.
So the next step is to pick out paint colors for the little girls' room. The walls will more than likely be a very bold green, somewhere in the lime family. The furniture will not be white like I was originally thinking, but a one of the pale shades...pale pink, green, yellow, or sherbert. I don't know. Too much to think about, lol.
I hope I didn't bore you. I have a passion for decorating and besides the bathroom, the girls rooms are the only rooms that I feel I am ready to tackle. The other room designs are still evolving, especially the kitchen. I don't want to buy anything for it until after the remodel. Everything will fall into place after that. For now, I'm having too much fun getting the girls' rooms in order.
I guess that's all for now!

Thanks girls! I really am liking the shabby look more and more:)
I love all those shows, too, Kim. I know what you mean about Trading Spaces, though. I use to watch it faithfully but now it's only if I happen to remember that it's on, lol!
