From what I read, cottage style orig...Hello there! From what I read, cottage style originated in the European and American countryside, so there is a lot of country flavor in cottage style. There are also different types of cottage style, like beach cottage, farmhouse cottage, romantic cottage, English cottage, and so on, and the degree of country flavor may vary a bit with each of these types. I lean toward Farmhouse Cottage and love the country feel of that particular cottage style.

I subscribe to Cottage Living magazine and I'm even seeing a lot of cottage homes that don't seem country at all - but are more...modern inspired. I personally have a hard time seeing them as "cottage" but, to each their own, I suppose!

Good question!
